This book is about a girl who meets new friends and starts thinking about hope in a whole new way. She learned that bullies are just like everyone else, they're not big, mean or tough. I think this book is real life, because it is kind of just like other people's lives. I really love the nick name they gave her, it is super cute. I think you will love this book because I know I couldn't put it down.

Divergent is a book set in the future when the world is basically supposed to be a utopia and for most people it is. However, in the dystopian Chicago, you have a choice that decides your future for the rest of your life. Beatrice Prior, a member of the faction called Abnegation, has turned 16-years-old and must take an aptitude test which will help her make the choice between who she is and her family. She will either stay Abnegation or become Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, or Candor. Which is going to be more important?

"Drought" a Recommended Read by Skylar S.

 Drought
by Pam Bachorz
Recommended by: Skylar S.
Drought is about Ruby, a teenager who has been growing up for a very long time. If I were to guess the year, I would say it could be just last year, the year it was published. Ruby and her family and friends were enslaved in 1812. There is a special thing called The Water that they must harvest and no one knows the real secret other than Ruby and the Council. Ruby's been a slave for so long that she longs with her entire being to go out to the real world instead of wait for the god, who is also her father, to return. Only problem is, if her entire being goes, then she takes away what makes The Water so special. Her blood.

Cassie is a good girl who faces very serious betrayal by her stepfather who convinces Cassie's mom that she is on drugs and she needs to be placed into a "set em straight" kind of youth facility. To the parents, Paradise Cove seems like a positive environment for troubled teens, but in reality, it is a nightmare of abuse and neglect that has many of the teens locked up for years. Can Cassie escape all the way from Mexico to her home town in Oregon?
