Drought

Drought is about Ruby, a teenager who has been growing up for a very long time. If I were to guess the year, I would say it could be just last year, the year it was published. Ruby and her family and friends were enslaved in 1812. There is a special thing called The Water that they must harvest and no one knows the real secret other than Ruby and the Council. Ruby's been a slave for so long that she longs with her entire being to go out to the real world instead of wait for the god, who is also her father, to return. Only problem is, if her entire being goes, then she takes away what makes The Water so special. Her blood.
