The story, Home of the Brave, is about a fifth grade boy named Kek. Kek is an immigrant who comes from Africa. He had to flee from his native country because unfortunately there were wars where he lived. Fortunately for him he and his mom survived, well maybe his mom, but Kek is still hopeful. On the way to America he lost his father and his brother died. When Kek got to America he had difficulty learning the language, adapting to the cold weather of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and finding friends. My favorite part of this book was when Kek put some dishes in the washing machine! Now you might have an idea of what happened next, but I'm not going to tell you. You'll have to read it for yourself! If you're also still wondering about kek's mom you'll no have another reason to read this book. I also really enjoyed this book because it was funny and had some witty responses. I would recommend this book to anyone that has ever had difficulty learning a new language.
